General Modbus Registers

In this chapter, we will cover the initial section of the modbus register map. We explore the different types of registers and their corresponding functions, as well as the various data types and their representations within the modbus protocol.

Glossary

  • u8: 8-bit unsigned integer.
  • u16: 16-bit unsigned integer.
  • u32: 32-bit unsigned integer.
  • f32: IEEE 754 single-precision floating-point value.
  • string: A null-terminated string of ASCII characters.
  • read: Modbus input register.
  • read/write: Modbus holding register.

Modbus Parity (Address = 0x0026) (≥ 2.0.0)

This register can be used to control the parity configuration of the Modbus serial interface. The register can be configured to the following values:
  • 0: None
  • 1: Odd
  • 2: Even
⚠️
After setting the value in this register, a reboot must take place for the change to take effect.

Modbus Stop Bits (Address = 0x0027) (≥ 2.0.0)

This register can be used to set or get the stop bit configuration of the Modbus serial interface. The register can be configured to the following values:
  • 1: 1 stop bit
  • 2: 2 stop bits
⚠️
After setting the value in this register, a reboot must take place for the change to take effect.
